Let me say upfront, I don't write negative reviews. I prefer to be positive. That said, this is first. I have dealt this therapist for years with positive experiences, up until now. I found Ms. Arrington lacking the proper compassion for myself and my child, who I was seeking therapy for. I found it odd that as a parent, I was not given any sense of what treatment would entail, no repport was established, as the therapist was not open and lacked compassionate communication skills. Unlike the communication styles I had with experienced with other therapists for myself and/or my child. It was hard to make the call to end services, as I had never had a bad experience before this. It was a blessing in disguise, as just 2 days later I found a really great practice and my phone intake w/ new therapist went very well. In fact, she asked really great questions and I felt like we were on the same page and connected well. All this to say, Ms. Arrington was not a good fit for us. I think she probably does better with adult counseling. Dealing with kids takes a lot of compassion and patience to build trust. I hope she takes this information and reflects on this and changes her approach w/ parents and kids that she sees.

Maybe if you need someone to just listen to you, she'd be helpful, but from my experiences, I sought someone to ask me questions to get me to think about why I think about things the way I do, to get at the root of my worries and depression, and even with prompting her to please do that, I didn't feel like that was her style. I would pay to talk to a wall for an hour. She seems to work well with children and trauma though.
