Jo Abney is by far the best counselor and advisor I have ever had. She's never severe or indifferent or distracted. She's incredibly focused on her client and has the ability to pull her thoughts from words, body language and intuition all at once. I follow her advice closely and she has never sent me off course. Always straight ahead but in creative ways which is great for me. And she's definitely never shocked.

Recovery is a lengthy and difficult process for the addict, his or her family, and the community in which they live... As human beings (no matter our affliction) we must ultimately choose to progress toward darkness or light. As a recovering alcoholic who sought Jo Abney's help, I now discover on a daily basis some nuance or lesson that allows me to say "on this day, I've made one more step in the right direction." I made this journey possible when I sought out Joe Abney and the SMART recovery program. If you are at the end of your rope and you've tried AA, imprisonment, psychiatry, medications, etc., this may be the program for you. Where all others had failed, this program works. It may not be comfortable, and it doesn't encourage complacency, but, as AA says "it works - IF YOU WORK IT!" Good luck!
