I had surgery at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in August of 2012. The entire experience was a nightmare. I was warned about this hospital in the past but never anticipated that I would need surgery and that my surgeon of choice would be associated with this facility. My son ended up filing a complaint on my behalf due to non-existant nursing care. My insurance company paid their portion and SMHC tried to double bill by insisting that I pay the insurance amount as well as my portion. After the issue going round & round between me, the hospital & my insurance company, I finally got a new bill (that still needed adjusting in my opinion) but I sent the check anyway - which was cashed - and yesterday I came home to a collection letter. I hate, hate Southern Maryland Hospital and would rather have surgery on my kitchen table.
