About

Richard Hayes, D.C.

Dr. Hayes first became interested in becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic when he was twelve years old. He had injured his head and neck falling off a roof. After a week long stay in the hospital, Dr. Hayes continued having headaches even months after his injury. Medical doctors could not find any other abnormalities with him and stated to take over the counter medications for his headaches and neck pain. His mother, who at the time had been a chiropractic patient already, decided to bring him to her Chiropractor.

Dr. Hayes first experience with chiropractic care left an unbelievable impression in his mind. After a course of care he felt so much better that he thought he would like to help people in pain as well. Having had neck pain and headaches, he knew there were other people that could be helped. He never lost site of wanting to become a Doctor of Chiropractic.

To this day he always says that he was actually fortunate that he injured his neck at such a young age because it gave him his introduction to the benefits of chiropractic care.

Dr. Hayes attended California State University at Fullerton. While there he completed his pre-chiropractic course work and also received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Whatever Dr. Hayes does, he is firm, positive and enthusiastic in his approach. Dr. Richard Hayes is a graduate from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and brings not only professionalism to his practice with a warm and caring atmosphere.

Since completing his formal schooling, Dr. Hayes has continued his education in various post-graduate studies including Bio-Cranial practitioner.

Chiropractic Care: An Effective Whiplash Treatment
Whiplash is an extremely common auto accident injury caused by wearing a seat belt during a car crash. While seat belts save lives, the action of being thrust violently forward and then backward has a traumatic effect on the spine. The vertebrae of the neck in particular are ground together laterally. This can lead to pinched nerves and inflammation that in turn can cause chronic pain. This debilitating condition greatly reduces quality of life due to chronic pain and discomfort.
The soft tissues in this area are also damaged in a whiplash injury. This includes the muscles, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. The cervical spine can no longer be property supported, leading to back and neck pain. Additional symptoms can include headaches, migraines, vision issues, sleep problems, and tingling and numbness in the extremities.

Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic Care at Hayes Chiropractic Center
Whether you suffer from acute neck pain, chronic back pain, a nagging sports injury or poor overall health, you may have been told that you should look into chiropractic care as a safe, conservative healing modality. But how does chiropractic treatment work, and how can it boost your everyday wellness, comfort and function? Let’s take a look at this time-tested,highly-popular form of care as practiced here at our San Diego chiropractic clinic.

How Chiropractic Adjustments Work
Chiropractic care centers on a form of manipulation called an adjustment. Chiropractic adjustments are precise transfers of small amounts of force to a joint whose components are out of balance, a problem known as subluxation. Subluxation in joints not only makes joint function painful and difficult; it can also cause alignment problems that may affect other parts of the body, leading to everything from muscle strain to nerves impingement.Pressure on nerves can even impair your body’s systemic functions, making you more prone to a variety of diseases and disorders. Chiropractic adjustments aim to relieve these issues by normalizing joint position.
