I called Central Medical Supply in Flanders, NJ last week to check availability and price to rent a piece of equipment. Today I called to verify the equipment was still available and was given a different rental price (higher) for the same item. I asked my husband to question the difference before sending him there to pick up the item. When he arrived he was quoted a different price (again higher still) by the counter attendant , who pointed to the price posted on the wall as the current rate. When my husband asked how it is that two phone quotes could be different from the posted rate? The attendant claimed to not know or be able to find out who issued the second quote just an hour before, (which was still higher than the original) and that he "just worked there" and therefore couldn't honor the original price. My husband told the attendant that this confusion has wasted his time and because of such poor business practice he would rent the item somewhere else. The attendant replied that his time was wasted also!
After calling the Manager who explained that recent price changes were not clearly communicated to all employees who represent the business. He apologized of course but made no concession for the wasted time and effort this had caused. This review is not about money, but rather about the first order of business which is the integrity and willingness of the service staff to resolve a problem without allowing a customer to walk out unsatisfied and frustrated. I will not return any business to Central Medical Supply.
