In November 2010 and again in September 2011, I contacted this office for help and got none. The first time was a Saturday morning and we had an emergency with my cat. We drove to the office and there wasn't anyone at the building. We called the number only to be told they don't have office hours that day and that nobody was available to help us. They asked not one question about what our emergency was and offered no suggestions as to where to go.
In September 2011, we were flooded and stuck in our town when my neighbour's dog began to hyperventilate and his tongue turned blue. We called the office again (it was a Thursday afternoon at 3:00) and again, a man answered the phone. My husband explained the emergency and asked if there was anyone there who could help. The response was, "I'm semi-retired and don't have the equipment to help you". My husband again stressed the emergency and asked if there was somewhere we could go for help closeby and he was told by the man on the phone that he couldn't help. My neighbour's dog died shortly after, despite receiving CPR directions over the phone from another veterinary office.
The building exists, there is a phone number listed, but it is unclear how this is a functioning veterinary office. The information on this site above states that it is for emergencies, but that is, at least in my experience, the last thing they care to assist with. To not even ask a question or attempt to help is outrageous. I will be looking into this office and filing formal complaints with the state Veterinary Association (and national as well), in addition to contacting the office directly about what I feel is negligence and false advertising. How someone who claims to help/save/treat animals for a living (retired or otherwise), fails to offer any assistance is beyond me.
I was very surprised that they didn't want to answer my questions at all. In fact, they just ignored all of my questions. They left me completely alone for a long time and I became very nervous. Everything they originally told me they would be able to do for me, they ended up not being able to do. I felt lied to.
