I had the worst experience with Hospice Ruskin. My dad who had some dementia went there late one night from the hospital so that we could get all the equipment necessary to bring him home. He was unable to walk and needed rehab. When he got there he was disoriented and was administered meds to calm him as well as morphine. The following day my daughter went down to see him and the doctor stated that my father was dying and we should all come down. That afternoon they were administering meds again which I thought were just to keep him calm. When I saw the nurse with a second needle I asked what it was and found out they were giving him morphine for pain. I couldn't believe that they would give him that when there was nothing wrong with him other than his dementia. There were three different doctors telling my family that he would only live another 24/48 hours or we he would be gone by morning. He lasted 10 days as we watch him go down to skin and bones. It was an experience I would never want anyone to go through. Please be sure that a doctor you know has said that your loved ones time is short before you use Hospice and if you happen to be in a situation like mine don't leave your loved one alone and ask a lot of questions.

Transfer to facility from ICU went smoothly. Our family member's comfort and care was a priority from the minute they came to transport her over, and we felt that they attended to her every need in a timely and compassionate way. Her care and comfort was as important to them as it was to us, and we never had to ask twice for anything we felt she needed. Facility is easy to get too, spotlessly clean, quiet, and calm. Special thanks to the nurses and aides that were there to support us during this difficult time. Although I can't remember everyone's names at this time, Mary & Susan and the rest of the nurses and aides that allowed Esther to pass with dignity and without fear or pain. Thank you.
