I had a terrible experience with this dentist office located at 8170 - C South Tryon Street Charlotte, NC 28273.
My daughter and I visited this dental office last year on 8/02/2012. My daughter got good service from Dr. Chen. Afterwards, I went to the front desk to the pay and a lady asked me to pay $123, which included a $50 deductible. I told her I already paid the $50 deductible for this year and she proceeded to tell me “there is no record of that in my computer and you need to pay the full amount.” I disagreed but at that time I was not sure if I had paid the deductible at this dental office or not since my daughter visited another dentist specialist in January 2012. She told me if it came back that I had paid the deductible, they would refund me so I went ahead and paid the full amount. They charged $123 on my credit card. The bill they gave me did not list any details but she told me that it included the deductible.
Later, when I checked my insurance EOB, I found that I had paid the $50 deductible and it had been paid at that dental office on 01/03/2012. (I don’t understand why they didn’t have a record of this). I went back to the dental office to show them my insurance EOB, and I asked to talk to someone to solve this problem. The two ladies at front desk reviewed the document and said that they didn’t know anything and nothing could be done and proceeded to talk to each other in Spanish, ignoring me. I waited more than 30 minutes, hoping to talk to someone who could help me resolve the problem but I continued to be ignored and I finally left, disappointed.
I called the office several days late because I still wanted to hopefully resolve the issue but that same front desk lady was unwilling to help me. I felt she did not want to confront her mistakes nor did she want to find a way to help me find a solution. I asked to speak with a higher authority and due to my insistence, they finally handed the phone over to a gentleman who told me that they had indeed made a mistake. He said he could not give me a refund but instead, offered me a credit and then proceeded to hang up.
This year, (12/19/2013), my daughter had two cavities filled again at this dental office. The same front desk lady handed me my bill with a list of the charges, one of them being that $50 deductible. I told her I had a credit on my account and I had already paid the $50 deductible this year also, although I had paid it at a different office when my daughter had my wisdom teeth removed. She checked her computer and told me there was no credit on my account. I asked her if they charged a deductible for every visit and she said “I didn’t do anything, the computer charged you”. I asked her if she could bill me after she contacted the insurance company about the deductible and she said “We don’t send bills. If you already paid, I will refund you after the insurance claim, but you have to pay the deductible today.” I refused and told her that she had charged the deductible twice last year and the issue still had not been fixed. I told her I didn’t want the same thing to happen again. I gave her my insurance EOB again as well as the receipt/bill with the charge from the previous year. She looked at both papers and said “Where is the deductible? I don’t know anything about this.” I told her that they had told me the bill from the previous year of $123 included the deductible and then asked her to direct me to someone who could actually solve the problem if she couldn’t. She did not give an answer and proceeded to ignore me. I felt like a fool just standing there. Her attitude towards this whole issue was the worst. She refused to listen to me and pretended as if the proof I was showing her didn’t even exist. A while later, I tried again and told the same front desk lady I really just wanted to get to the bottom of this matter. She did not listen to me and said “we are busy, nobody can talk to you”. I told her I can wait or even make an appointment with someone to solve this, I just wanted it solved. She proceeded to tell me “I’m the owner, if you just want to argue about getting your money back, you can go and don’t bother coming again” and then had a nurse push me out of the office.
I have been to many clinics but have never seen one that is as rude and unwilling to help as this. I have also never been treated with such disrespect as I have here.
