This place is a nightmare. Our mother was placed there on the assurance from them that they were QUALIFIED in alzheimers care. I have never in my life been so appalled at the lack of hygiene, the total incompetence of the staff, and the absolute lack of care. We were constantly finding injuries where they left fnger marks from squeezing her arm so hard it bruised-at least once a week! They left her siting in feces. Her room was filthy. Her toilet would not flush-and they told us she needed to hold the handle down longer. Seriously? An advanced alzheimers patient needs to remember to "hold down the toilet handle"? They never cleaned the toilet-it was constantly filled with feces! They fed her food that was burned-or was so hard it could not be cut. Every thing she owned was stolen. They blamed the other residents...but none of them had any possessions either so WHERE were the items going? Every complaint to the staff was responded with by blaiming the resident for THEIR lack of care. DoNOT put a family member here! There are better places that do take medicaid! We moved our mother to a better facility where she now receives excellent care, is kept clean, has a lovely room and appropriate daily activity. Pleasant Manor NEVER-not EVER had any of those. Her medical care was preposterous. She rarely saw a physician-they called one on the phone but did not have one present unless we demanded it when she was hurt or ill. They let her foot swell to a point she could not wear shoes and NEVER looked at it until we called repeatedly for 2 weeks. This place is Hellhole Manor-there is nothing Pleasant about it at all!

My mother, who is 80 years old and has Alzheimer's, fell multiple times at Pleasant Manor, this last time breaking her hip. They denied she fell despite a witness who saw her fall. After five days they decided they'd take her to the emergency room. My daddy knew she was in a lot more pain than usual, she has Osteoporosis. They put her in a wheelchair and make her sit there all day pushed up to a table so she couldn't get up. I went up to visit her one afternoon and she was not in her room. When I asked where she was, one nurse did not know?? She had to ask several other nurses to finally determine my dad had taken her out on pass. My mom had to have surgery to do a complete hip replacement. She will NOT be going back there!! I just found out a very close friend had her mother there and her mother died from choking on steak they fed her with only six teeth. They brought her back with CPR. This is only part of what happened to her mother there.

They don't have that great of a professional reputation in my community. They definitely aren't known for being experts. Just a warning, they do not adhere to the customer is always right policy no matter what the situation is. They never listen to customers complaints and argue with them instead of trying to correct the situation. That's just bad business. I would never refer any of my family and friends to go here. If I had know how terrible they were I never would have gone. They don't really take that extra step to make me feel special. I'm just another client to them. Let me just say, I was pretty shocked that this business was in such a bad neighborhood. It's not what I was expecting when I made the appointment and I did not feel safe.
