Mercy Sienna Woods claims to have an Alzheimer's unit but in actuality it is a room full of about 20 residents confined to their wheelchairs (even if they have the ability to walk) with about 2 Nursin g Assistants. When they fall into issues with a resident being combative they pump them full of Ativan, and leave them confined to an Ottoman. Some residents have to wait hours for bathroom breaks, and they aren't encouraged to eat so they may easily become malnourished. They are SEVERELY understaffed, and in my opinion not suitable to care for people who suffer from Dementia, Alzheimer's, or other degenerative disorders of the mind. My aunt ultimately died due to the lack of care she received at this facility. They were uncaring, and extremely hard to speak to about issues. When my aunt was transferred to a hospital elsewhere the charge nurse told us she wouldn't tell us where she had been sent to. Poor care, out of date/unsanitary facilities, and horrendously understaffed. Why anyone would willingly put a family member there is beyond me. If I had a say in where my aunt had gone it would most definitely would have been a different facility.
