My mother was at Birchwood for rehabilitation following knee replacement. I was told that they had specialty rehab and that was untrue. They have a therapist, but therapy was not directed at her knee. We brought her ice machine, which was supposed to be used 5-6 times a day, and on the second day it had never been used. When asking the nurses, they didn't even know how to use it. The nursing staff was vacant and half the time they said they would be back with something for my mother, they never returned. The facility is old and doesn't have a separate rehabilitation side. It smells bad and the staff talks about you as if you aren't even there. Very unprofessional
They were a little too argumentative and angry. They didn't seem like they wanted to listen to almost everything I had to say. I've been to one or two places that had a really bad smell. I was worried I would encounter it here too but I didn't notice anything. Every time I'd ask a question, it seemed like they were annoyed and didn't want to give me an answer. I understand they're busy, but they should really treat their clients better. They left me completely alone for a long time and I became very nervous. They never made any effort to follow up with me after my visit and it made me feel very unimportant. I know they see a lot of patients, but when you say you're going to follow up, you should.
