Dr. Richard D. Pellegrino, D.C. is proud to address the holistic treatment of the body with physical rehabilitation and quality chiropractic care. The office of Dr. Pellegrino also possesses a group of skilled health care individuals that can tailor therapeutic needs and treatment plans to fit the unique needs of the individual. This includes the following: Acupuncture, Massage, Physical Therapy, and Psychological Counseling. All of the aforementioned therapies are performed by licensed, credentialed health professionals in their respective fields. The office utilizes highly proficient diagnostic skills in combination with x-ray to address the root cause(s) of musculoskeletal injuries. Dr. Pellegrino employs effective rehabilitative exercises and physiotherapy to address the condition and to prevent future problems from occurring. All treatment is provided with personal, supervised care. Dr. Pellegrino is involved in the treatment of sports injuries, work-related injuries, auto injuries, neck pain, back pain, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, arm/leg pain, shoulder pain, family care, knee pain, headaches, stress, and wrist pain. Legal cases often require effective skill in report writing, communicating with attorneys and claims adjusters. He has that ability. Dr. Pellegrino prides himself in his timely reporting, accurate documentation, comprehensive reporting, expert testimony and reasonable fees. The office accepts most major insurances including most plans involving Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO/POS, United Health Care PPO/POS, Cigna PPO/POS, Aetna PPO/POS, Humana, Vista, 1st Health,and Medicare.   Services : Superficial Heat – often used to help raise the temperature of soft tissues directly below the surface of the skin.<BR><BR>Ultrasound- to diminish inflammation/swelling and promote tissue healing in a given articulation.<BR><BR>Interferential Electro-Therapy – Tiny amounts of electrical impulses are induced into the tissues in the vicinity of the injury.  Where these waves intersect below the surface of the skin, low-frequency stimulation is created.  This prompts the body to secrete endorphins and other natural pain killers to relieve pain.<BR><BR>Electro-Muscle Stimulation – Small amounts of electrical current are induced into the tissues for the purpose of reducing swelling.  This widely used technique safely strengthens and helps reduce painful symptoms.<BR><BR>Trigger Point Therapy – A trigger point is an area of uncontrolled muscle tightness causing tenderness which interferes with normal muscle function.  This restricts normal range of motion, weakens the muscle, and may refer pain to other parts of the body.  The muscle is compressed with sustaned pressure to relax it.<BR><BR>Intersegmental Traction - Mobilizes the spinal column while simultaneously and gently stretching ligaments and muscles.  Increases blood flow and oxygen to discs, ligaments and muscles, thereby improving balance, strength and mobility<BR><BR>Massage Therapy - Maintains health; provides relaxation; preserves or increases functional capacity; diminishes soft-tissue pain arising from stress, anxiety, adhesions, and overuses.<BR><BR>Acupuncture - Therapeutic insertion of solid needles in various combinations and patterns is the foundation of acupuncture. The choice of needle patterns can be based on traditional principles such as encouraging the flow of qi (pronounced chee), a subtle vivifying energy, through classically described acupuncture channels. Used to treat addiction, stroke rehabilitation, headache, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, osteoarthritis, low-back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and asthma--in which acupuncture may be useful as an adjunct treatment or an acceptable alternative or be included in a comprehensive management program<BR><BR>Dr. Pellegrino utilizes the following adjusting techniques: Diversified, Flexion-Distraction, Thompson, and Activator - all performed in a gentle, patient-centered, therapeutic manner.  He also uses Active Release to assist and muscle and soft tissue healing.  The office possesses on-site X-ray equipment to expedite diagnostic procedures.  Dr. Pellegrino maintains open dialogue with the most reputable medical doctors of various subspecialties and makes the appropriate necessary referrals.
