He's very nice, but incompetent. When I developed CFS, he asked a short list of questions and took some blood work. When it came back, I was told that my problem was in my head and I should go to a psychiatrist! I was insulted. Then I remembered a friend telling me about her psychiatrist and how he knew more than most internists. After a struggle with my pride, I bit the bullet and went to see him. He did an exhaustive intake--much, much more than Zanetti. I had to get a lot of blood work done (stuff that Dr. Z obviously didn't know about). When I asked THIS doctor if it was all in my head, he said, no, you've got this condition. I was told to get a sleep study; I did and discovered I had severe sleep apnea. Dr. Z never had me do that. I started feeling better. Then I was told to go to a pulmonologist Dr. Z never thought of that. Guess what? I have severe COPD. After taking inhalers for six months, I started feeling even better. This doctor also prescribed certain nutritional supplements. After a year or so, I was feeling much, much better. I have since found a fantastic internet who is always learning and fully approves of what the psychiatrist did; this new internist actively stays on top of the research and doesn't just swallow whatever the drug companies say. When I asked an acquaintance who her internist was she told me that she used to go to Dr. Z, but stopped because he prescribed the wrong antibiotic for an infection; after not getting better, she went to someone else and found out that he had prescribed the wrong antibiotic for her type of infection.
