I was referred to a dermatoligist by Dr. Ochsner. A week later they called me in to pick up the "referral". I received a prescription with, "refer to dermatologist" written on it. I thought it was a bit odd, but I went with it. I made my appointment with the dermatoligist and asked what they would need from me. They stated just the referral from my Insurance. I immediately called and advised the front office and they said they would get that to me asap. Needless to say, after 4 calls to remind them I needed the referral still no referral. When I called on the day of my appointment at 8am they said no problem, they would have it to me before my appointment. An hour before my appointment, I called and let them know they are pushing the time line. Stephanie said in the most rude manner, "we have a lot of referrals and we do not have the time to keep track of them. It is your responsibility to follow up with us." An hour before my appointment, I called and let them know they are pushing the time line. Stephanie said in the most rude manner, "we have a lot of referrals and we do not have the time to keep track of them. It is your responsibility to follow up with us." I told her, No, it is called organization and follow up on your offices part and I need my referral asap and then I hung up on her. She immediately called me back and identified herself as the one I hung up on and stated they refuse to help me because they are not my Primary Care Physician. This could have all been avoided had I known that from the beginning and since they are the only ones that I have seen for the last 6 months!!! I said a few choice words to her and she was persistantly screaming at me while I was talking. I hung up with her again and called my Insurance company. They had the referral to me within 10 min. Not only is the office rude, they have no customer service skills nor the ability to get things done in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, I have missed my dermatology appointment and had to reschedule and won't be seen for another 3 weeks!
