Had 2 MRIs, diagnosis of 3 torn tendons,2 in shoulder,1 in elbow. He gave me a steroid shot for elbow, was having no pain or trouble with shoulder. I had arm in sling due to large bruise and pain in elbow. After steroid shot ,2 weeks not a lot of pain, but bruising returned doing the 6'weeks of physical therapy. Returned back to his office, my husband went in,ask about possible healing on its own versus surgery. Hovis said a 50/50 chance of healing on its own, possible 6 months to 2 years. He advised against long term use of steroids, which I didn't get a lot of long term relief from the one he gave me. Returned for 3rd visit ,saw his PA, he asked how things were going, told him my employer would not give me short term disability, and using arm to type and do paperwork was keeping it bruised. Was sent home, waiting to hear if I needed surgery, got a call from Travelers insurance saying workman's comp claim denied due to DR. Hovis had reassessed his original diagnosis and said I had degenerative shoulder trouble. I went to Hovis with a swollen, bruised, elbow from picking up a 25 lb package ,and treatment denied due to Hovis siding with Travelers insurance. Attention DR. HOVIS,I came in with elbow trouble, how you went biased on claim to reverse your diagnosis to let my employer and insurance company off the hook. I forgot, in EAST TN,it's still " THE GOOD OLE BOY SYSTEM" that works

Have been there several visits and every time I was there was there at least 2 to 4 hours every time. My paperwork was never correct. I was never capable of getting the orthopedic equipment dr prescribed for me at the therapy area he sent me to they were very rude any told me that I would have to find the equipment myself. Will never use him or recommend him to anyone. His bedside manner is a big 0 stars.
