Dr. Marianne Goldsmith, a lisenced practitioner in Providence, R.I., is a reasonably well-educated woman, however lacks the most common of common-sense. Her basic training is evident, however she lacks interpersonal skills and sensitivity, to say the least. She can counsel with the best of them, but give her one sensitive case, and the results are, rather, disastrous. As a survivor of childhood abuse, rape, PTSD and Major Depression, I, needed even more therapy after seeing her. I am proud to say I am healed this day, yet feel the need to post this, as a warning to others. Goldsmith cheapened me, belittled me and ran me into the ground as I struggled to make sense of a looming darkness and feelings of panic that surrounded me at one time in my life. She not only was insensitive to my plight, but maintaned that others were "much more worse off" than myself, and she told me that I should "Grow up". She made light of my pain, insisting that my symptoms were nothing short of a ploy for attention. Perhaps, she should look into her own life, and she may see her own "plank" in her eye. As a 25 year old, living in an extremely abusive household, I went to her, seeking help. I was ridiculed, made-fun of, laughed at, and poked fun at. I ssure you, nothing about my plight was amusing, except, maybe for her part in it. This doctor may be fine for simple cases...and honestly, who can say that their case is simple? However, for anyone that needs an honest, trustworthy, compassionate person to confide their deep feelings to, go somewhere else. This woman is calculating, demeaning and lacks any sense of feeling. Walk away...just walk away.
