I did not feel safe with them at all. I was scared that something was going to go wrong. Sometimes, I have to persuade them that I have an important concern that needs their attention. There have been times that they've paid attention to my concerns, but not many. One thing I don't like, is that I can't be confident that they'll work with me until they find the best solution for me. I'm always worried they're going to just settle with a solution that works.
Dr. Askin had to examine me for an insurance second opinion. He said he read my prior records but his recommendations did not reflect that at all. After 6 months of grueling physical therapy at my surgeon's office, and still working on tendon adhesions so my finger could move better, his assessment was that I would benefit just as much from "scrubbing the floor with a brush". The insurance company he was working for disagreed with him, so that tells you something. I perform surgery daily and need excellent dexterity. I wonder how he would feel, as a surgeon, if he had multiple hand fractures and someone told him to scrub the floor to get better.
