Dr. Valez is AWESOME. She is compassionate, non judgmental and patient. I LOVE HER professionalism and her nurturing attitude. I sent LOTS of people to her that she doesn't even know about and they ALL sing her reviews!! I will be with her until she retires and hopefully by then I will no longer need to see a gyn because we both will be too old! Can't say enough about her! Wish there were MORE stars to rate her with! Too bad she no longer delivers babies, what a treat that was! She even sung happy birthday to my newborn as he was being delivered and gave my entire delivery room glasses of Sparkling apple cider! It was a BEAUTIFUL, MEMORABLE and SUPER SPECIAL delivery for which I am grateful!

I cannot believe how unprofessional Dr. Velez's office is! I had been going to her for years, but stopped due to absurdly long wait times and the ignorance of the "ladies" who run her office. I went back two years ago after I was diagnosed with fibroids since my gynecologist at that time did not seem to be taking the issue seriously. The moment I went back to Velez, I was reminded of why I stopped going to her in the first place. In addition to still having to sit in her waiting area for over 45 minutes before being seen, her office was still being ran by what appear to be recent high school grads who have no clue what they are doing. (During my last appointment they forgot I was even there, and when I went in to see why I was the only one still sitting in the waiting room, I realized that I was interrupting Velez scold her staff about everything they are doing wrong, as if SHE is not the one responsible for hiring and training them.) I let Velez perform my myomectomy because despite the ignorance going on in her office, I knew she knew what she was doing as a doctor. But since my surgery two years ago, I have not been able to see her for follow-ups to get her opinion on how I've been doing or to discuss other issues that I am still experiencing since my surgery. I know she has hundreds of patients, but you would think that she would at least show enough patient care to follow up with someone who has undergone such a serious procedure and not send some office aide to perform an annual exam (my final straw) on someone with a history of gynecological issues. I decided I could no longer take the craziness and switched to a new doctor. When I called Velez's office to retrieve my records they could not find them (!). I was floored and interrogated the person on the phone about the type of system they have that doesn't allow them to locate the chart of a patient who was just seen less than two months prior. I know for a fact that Velez's lack of quality employees comes from her hiring outside of the Pennsylvania Hospital system, which cuts wage costs to her office. With hiring these low-grade employees to run her office comes a despicable lack of knowledge on the basics, such as phone etiquette and the ability to answer simple questions like, "Where are my records?" If Velez insists on hiring from transition homes and welfare-to-work programs, she should at least have the acumen to train them on how to run her office efficiently and professionally. Her lack of doing so truly gives the impression that she does not care. I honestly wish someone would shut Velez's office down for a while and force her to clean up her act. And speaking of cleaning, her office looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. That, too, makes me very uneasy about going there, and leave me to doubt whether her staff exercise proper hygiene and hazardous waste disposal practices. It's a shame that a doctor with her skill set runs an office that is in such a shambles. And to think, I've recommended women I know with fibroid issues to her. Never again!
