I first went to 6th Day Dental about 6 months ago, when we moved to the area. My children and I went for a cleaning. I was told that I needed a crown and one of my children was given sealants. I did not think a thing about it. They were able to perform the dental work and put the temporary crown on that very day. I thought that was very convenient. Our next appointment was 6 months later. Our three cleanings took an hour and 45 minutes, which I thought was a long time. My dental hygienist was very friendly and so were the staff. My dental hygienist was in the middle of cleaning my teeth when the dentist, an older man, came in to examine my teeth. He did not check my gums for gum disease, but instead focused on my top right tooth that is second from the back. He told me the filling did not look good. It felt like he was trying to convince me of something. He, then, pulled up my x-ray from 6 months ago (I hope they were mine.) and told me that this tooth did not look good...didn't I notice the shading in this area? It could be decay behind the filling. After all, this filling looked to be over 20 years old. I thought to myself, REALLY???? You are going to use an old x-ray, which was seen by the first dentist and point out something new???? When I told the hygienist about my concerns and that I felt I needed a second opinion, she was gracious and told me I could do that, but she would get an estimate for what the crown would cost. She immediately left to talk with the office manager. In the meanwhile, my older son was told he had a cavity and needed a filling. My younger son had a filling on the first visit. I then went to check out with the office manager. The office staff tried to give us t-shirts, but we refused. I told the office manager that we were not coming back because I had no confidence in them. To use a 6-month x-ray to find a "new" cavity is disturbing. When I asked why the first dentist did not notice it, I was told she was young. My reply was, "Well, if you don't think she does a good job, then, why is she working here?" This place is out for the money. I am only hoping that the hygienist did not intentionally nick my filling. She scraped my teeth for a longer time than I was used to. This is not my first dental rodeo. I am 43 years old and have been going to the dentist every 6 months for as long as I have had teeth. I was not given any fluoride and the hygienist spent too long on my teeth. They actually hurt. I recommend that you stay away from this place. The office manager offered me $100 off the price of the crown to compensate for my dissatisfaction. I let her know that we would not be coming back and that I would decline the offer. STAY AWAY!
