the fact this man has a license after how badly my teeth are after 4.5 years in his care is absurd. I have a complaint w the dental board against him which hopefully I will get some sort of justice for what i will have to live with for the rest of my life..My bite is 20 times worse after treatment from Welch... I've been going to restorative dentists and other orthodontists for almost 2 years now after ending my treatment with Welch only to be told extremely bad news about how bad my bite is now. my treatment was only supposed to be $7400 and I ended up paying close to $13,000 w all the fees I was hit with because of extra and repeat visits which occurred because of teeth going the wrong way the day after a adjustment. Not to mention how many brackets he removed and repositioned trying to fix teeth he spun the wrong direction. He takes no responsibility for any of his mistakes and blamed my oral surgeon with whom I've had 2 surgeries with and had not 1 problem from the surguries both went perfectly. Welch said "I got the wrong surgury.. i needed double jaw surgury and thats why my bites so bad"... My surgeon said" no that surgury has alot of complications and you don't just do that surgury on a whim" My surgeon recommended upper jaw surgury only where they cut above the teeth and then pull the bite down while the jaw heals. My surgeon whom Welch sent me to
also recommended expansion surgury to widen the upper jaw so the lower jaw is narrower then the upper and line up correctly. I made the plan to have both the surguries w the surgeon at the same time and Dr Welch laid out the orthodontics plan to coincide with it. So braces for a year then the surgury was the plan. About 2 years after surgury dr Welch told me" I think I can have you done in 2 or 3 months but we need to pull a lower tooth" I said "what if we don't?" He said " then it will take about 9 months to be done" So he never told me why all of a sudden this was needed. But I found out after leaving his care that he had essentially messed up and removed my upper jawexpansion device too soon after the surgury.. so my upper jaw was still too narrow. So pulling the tooth was a last stitch attempt allowed him to make the lower pallet narrower and cover his mistake.. But even this didn't fix it.. my lower pallet is still wider than the uppers after him pulling that tooth and now my bite will never be the same because of it.. none if this was explained to me until the end of my treatment. Another major problem I now have is triangular spaces between all my front lower and upper teeth because of how far he pulled them down. DR Welch said "thats nothing I did.. thats gums disease" so I left and set an appt w the gum doctor and low and behold I have no gum disease.. perfect gums.. he said my teeth had been pulled too far out.
I have been told by the restorative dentist that I need to get 6 of my virgin teeth crowned my left side in order to undo what Welch has done. I have micro cracking on the rigjt side of my mouth now in multiple teeth because of how bad my bite is and how heavy I have been hitting on a few areas of my mouth.. Not to mention the fight i had with his billing manager who tried to charge me an addition 6 months.. it took a screaming match between us and me showing dr Welch on his computer how his billing manager was wrong to resolve that. but low and behold I was right. This guy also originally had told me the cost of my expansion device was in the total amount of my contract but at the 1 that mark when I had my surgury made me pay another $700 sayin I never said that. Trust me ... if you have any kind of complexity to your orthodontic
case stay away.. go elsewhere.
