Long story, but I thought I should share my experience. My husband started seeing Kelly Treadway, NP, at Family Docs in October of 2016. She is very pleasant and very thorough. I was very pleased with her as my husband has chronic medical issues. I typically do not see doctors myself as I am not ill a lot. However, I ended up getting the flu this year and I needed to see a doctor. She thankfully saw me. While there I asked her if she could prescribe my antidepressants and anxiety medication that I normally get from my Physiatrist (every three months). The reason I asked this is because with my insurance you have to pay the deductible before paying the co-pay, which is costly. When she asked about my anxiety medication and how often I take it, I told her I take it as necessary (PRN), but I am prescribed 1-2 pills a day as needed. Normally I take the medication at night to help me sleep sometimes I take a whole and sometimes a take a half. About a month and half later I called the clinic to get refills for both medications. Her Medical Assistant contacted me back and stated the doctor was not going to fill my anxiety medications. I asked, “Why”, and she said, “Because it is too soon.” I then proceeded to ask, “Well when does she plan on refilling it?” Simple question, right!?! As the Medical Assistant is looking into my question I received a call from their Office Manager. I was not available, so she left a long detailed voicemail on my answer machine. She said that Kelly Treadway no longer wants to see you as a patient due to discrepancies. I was livid. I thought 1.) How unprofessional to leave that type of message on a voicemail and 2.) If she was a concerned and good doctor, she should be contacting me to discuss the manner. I did call the Office Manager back to state my thoughts. She said that I would receive a letter in the mail. I was so baffled at the unprofessionalism that I was really loss of words. Unfortunately, due to this incident my husband will no longer go there either. Like I said, I see a lot of doctors due to my husband and in the past I have had kidney issues. I have never seen a doctor handle a situation so poorly.
I got my anxiety medications filled on December 23, 2017, which is good for 3 months. That would take me to March 23, 2018. I called on a Thursday, a week before March 23, and said I am going to need a refill. Refill requests can take about 24-48 hours to process. She could have called it in and I could have picked it up when it was ready (March 23rd). When I had called the office for a refill request, I still had some left over, I was just being proactive. Luckily I keep my Physiatrist appointment, March 20th. I went in to see him and I explained what happened and he was also baffled by her actions.
