If my appointments with Dr. Kaplowitz had simply been completely unhelpful, I'd give at least three stars here. I mean, psychiatry is hard! Unfortunately, she not only wasn't helping, but became defensive and said we just hadn't given it enough time whenever I pointed this out with the goal of seeing someone else instead (...for a year). That brings us down to two stars.

The final bump down into "I assure you, you're not desperate enough to see someone like this" territory came from her disclosure of protected mental health information without consent to someone who called her on the phone. This was without any concern about me posing a risk to myself or others--she just didn't know the law and thought she was obligated to provide treatment details without a release. Her disclosure caused serious problems for my family and career. If she is otherwise a good fit for you, I urge you to discuss confidentiality with her and make sure you're on the same page about relevant privacy laws.
