My experience with this neurologist has been average. Appointments are usually quite brief, consisting of little more than a few questions about how I'm feeling. This lackluster experience is exacerbated by the fact that the support staff has been generally unhelpful. For example, in a recent attempt to renew a prescription before running out of medication, I was asked to supply the receptionist with the name of the medication and the precise dosage. I told her the name, and I told her the dosage was "six capsules daily," but I added that, not having the medication with me at the time, I was uncertain whether the capsules were 50mg or 100mg. I asked her if she could open my file to tell me what was prescribed on the last occasion, and she refused. I was told that the patients are expected to supply the doctor with this information. When I pointed out that I only had a few days of the medication left, and needed to get the prescription processed, she nonetheless left me to wait until I returned home that evening to get the dosage amount, losing another 24 hours before I could call the office again the next day. Even when I talked to a nurse, pointing out how simple it would be to help me out and simply open my file to let me know what the doctor had prescribed, I was told, "Yes, but then the doctor would have to do that for case after case after case..." Given the amount of money a patient pays for medical care, you might think that a simple request for information would be something the support staff would be willing to handle, but in this case, it was not -- "customer service" became "self-service."
