Under no circumstances would I ever recommend them to my friends or family after the experience I had. But my main reason for taking this survey is the fact I need my medical records from the treatment I received under the care of Dr. Adair Blackwood. I was given the medication Geodon. It completely messed me up. I lost almost 50 lbs. in 2 months. I became a walking zombie. My hair begin to fall out. I would get up at night to go to restroom while on this medication and fall asleep while walking in which I would of course fall. I didn't realize what was going on. My husband finally demanded that he go with me to my next visit. He tried to explain to Dr. Blackwood that something was not right. Dr. Blackwood said maybe my condition was due to some underlying medical condition. My husband explained that I had been going to my primary care physician and all the labs came back ok. I behavior was severly abnormal. I went from being somewhat depressed and anxious to paranoid with my anxiety level over the top.
I was prescribed another med to for my taunt muscles that Dr. Blackwood said was a possible side effect from the Geodon. My condition worsened. My husband was angry he took me back the following day. Dr. Blackwood acted as if it were all my fault for my condition. My husband demanded answers, but he seemed to be uninterested. So, at this point, my husband informed him I would no longer be a patient of his. We left the office I started seeing another Psychiatrist and he immediately took me off the Geodon and the other meds prescribed by Dr. Blackwood. I cant remember all of them. I got better. I got to the point of being able to focus. My anxiety got better. My hair returned to normal. But I am sure I have issues now because of taking the meds he had prescribed for me. I have been diagnosed as bipolar. With major depression and generalized anxiety. I am not completely stable, but my condition is somewhat manageable. I am of average weight. The problem still at hand is I need my medical records from this office and I cannot locate this Dr. Adair Blackwood. What is up with that and why did the office close. The Brightmore outpatient service he was affililated has been closed. I want to know why.
