On April 10, 2012, I broke the right fibula skiing in Colorado. The Yampa Valley Medical Center took care of everything. When I returned to Florida I needed clearance to return to work and sought this from the Orthopaetic Care Specialists, US 1, North Palm Beach, Fl. They took an X ray (their radiologist attempted to take it of the wrong leg). BCBS paid bill.
On 05/01/12, I returned and they required another X ray, which I paid. A Dr. Arlosoroff saw me for approximately 2 1/2 minutes. After asking me if I was seeking sympathy since it was only the fibula that was broken, he then suggested I receive Physical Therapy, which I refused. He signed a letter, I had written, clearing me to return to work.
I have the BCBS statement reflecting charges for an X ray submitted by OCS to BCBS on 04/17/12, and paid 04/20/12 stating I owe the provider, OCS, nothing.
May 2012 I received Statement from BCBS for a bill from OCS for a X ray May 1, 2012 of which I owed the provider $20.17, which I have paid.
Almost a year had passed since my visits to OCS, when on 02/14/2012, I receive a new bill from OCS seeking an additional $331.59 for, per OCS bill "Fib Prox of Shaft Fx".
Over the past couple years, I have called them and written ( letter date 03/06/14 ), explaining what I have and seeking clarification. They have not responded to my letter except with their automated billing sending replica bills. Then in 2015 I received a phone call from a ‘Camelda’ in their billing Department.
Today, April 02, 2015 I spoke with OCS billing Dept. Rep, Camelda who refused to explain what that charge means except that Dr. Arlosoroft provided care and specifically denied that if referred to 'Surgery'. For this 'care' BCBS was charged $1500.00 on 04/10/13.
I have a statement from BCBS dated as processed 05/04/12, stating BCBS received a bill from OCS for $1500.00. This BCBS "Explanation of Benefits" clearly notates under Types of Service : Surgery. For anyone interested, THERE WAS NO SURGERY. OCS has been paid for both X rays performed. They should be charged with fraud. This is not a clerical error. OCS waited almost a year to try to get me to pay a bogus bill. Almost 3 years later they are still threatening me to pay these bogus charges. I have all the records to substantiate my allegations. OCS is not interested in my records. They have no integrity and X ray tech is an idiot.
