After my boyfriend sawed off the tip of his thumb while preforming winter home repairs, we were referred to Dr.DuShuttle. At our first visit, he glanced at my boyfriend's injury, briefly gave us instr uctions on what to do (soak thumb upside-down in a small container of peroxide and re-wrap with a non-adhesive bandage twice daily) and told us to come back in 2 weeks. We scheduled a visit with the receptionist who told us we had to go to his office half an hour away instead of rescheduling at the same office(which was right around the corner from our home). At our second appointment, we waited in the crowded waiting room in which there were far too few chairs for over an hour only to have our appointment last less than two minutes. He barely glanced at my boyfriend's injury before telling us that we weren't caring for it properly despite the fact that we had been following his instructions exactly. He acted like we were idiots for not having a medical degree and had his assistant "re-explain" how to care for his thumb. The instructions which the assistant gave us varied wildly from what DuShuttle had told us 2 weeks previously (soak a bandage in peroxide, re-wrap wet gauze into bandage, allow gauze to dry and adhere to the wound, RIP OFF gauze- OUCH!!). He was unwilling to answer our questions (and we had a lot of them). Before we left, his assistant poorly wrapped my boyfriend's injury- getting Doritos crumbs in his open wound. Both my boyfriend and I are very unhappy with the level of care he received and would NOT recommend him.
