Excellent staff and surgeon.

Dr. Kirkland was the surgeon on call when I went in for emergency surgery. He told me what the procedure was called, although he would not answer my specific questions about how it would be performed. I wanted to know what he was actually going to do to me and what to expect afterwards. His reply was, "It depends on the patient." That obviously was absolutely no help to me. I was never given a discharge packet with expectations for the days after surgery and thusly had a rough recovery.

While his colleagues see their follow up patients in 10-14 days after surgery, Dr. Kirkland doesn't see his back for a month. When I did have my follow up, he was running 2 hours behind (which would have been okay if they had said "hey, you don't actually need to be here 30 mins prior to your appointment because we're backed up," so I wouldn't have to sit in a waiting room for 2.5 hours). Finally, two hours to the minute after my appointment was scheduled to begin, I was called back. Dr. Kirkland walked in, looked at my incision, said "it looks good", awkwardly advanced like he was going to shake my hand....but didn't, and walked out. He spent a total of three minutes in the room with me.

I couldn't have been more disappointed with this doctor. I didn't choose to have him as my surgeon and I definitely would never choose to again.
