I brought a prescription in from a very trusted OD our family used for years to be filled for lenses by this new local service provider. The new glasses slightly bothered me but I was told I'd get used to them.
Unknown to me, but discovered over a year later, the prescription was made WRONG by their lab! Apparently they don't the accuracy of prescriptions at Segal's office on glasses that come back from their lab, my previous provider routinely does this.
How I discovered this was, about a year an a half later, when going back to Segal's office for an annual check and new prescription, I had a 2nd pair of glasses made with them. These really bothered me a lot and I called. The doctor was out of town but i was told by staff to wear them and get used to them. Finally it got so bad I tried the glasses I'd worn before ever meeting the Segal office and things felt much better. They were made over 4 yrs earlier by the previous optometrist and felt even better than the his last prescription, the first I had filled w/ Segal's lab. And I could read distance much better with them.
Confused, I drove back to t he previous doctor, who was some great distance away and not in our new insurance plan or I'd have stuck w/ him, even given the distance. He measured both new glasses made by Segal's lab and determined that they were both not made to their related prescriptions! Also he did a complimentary eye exam and showed what the prescription issued by Segal would look like if done correctly. Still, compared to what he measured, only several weeks after Segal's exam, things were clearer by what his measurements would prescribe.

Bottom line:
1. their lab screwed up filling prescriptions each time they made lenses, and they never caught it, I doubt they even check or they should have caught it.

2. even the one prescription measured was not as accurate as what our former provider measured, things were significantly more clear.

I had to negotiate having the lenes remade, and due complications surrounding a recent move, never was able to follow through and wound up wearing glasses made 4 years earlier because they were better than the last two made and provided by Segal's office.

I'm sorry to write this report because Dr. Segal is as nice a guy as you'd ever want to meet. Perhaps he needs to review w/ his staff the checking of prescriptions received from their lab, but I can't account for why what he prescribed was so unclear compared to what was measured by another just several weeks later when I sought to figure out what was going on
