Charles L Beck Jr, MD

Dr. Beck completed his medical degree and subsequent orthopedic residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans in 1987. He moved to Salt Lake City to complete a one-year fellowship in knee and shoulder surgery and sports medicine. He later completed a prestigious European traveling fellowship in sports medicine. Dr. Beck has served as a team physician for the US Ski & Snowboard teams, ReAL Salt Lake, and Granite School District. He still takes time to teach locally, nationally and internationally.

Dr. Beck specializes in the treatment of sports injuries as well as joint replacement of the knee and shoulder. He has special interests in knee ligament reconstruction and cartilage repair and transplantation. Dr. Beck is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and has been honored with awards for excellence throughout his career.

Dr Beck did a total knee replacement for me 13years ago. At first he seemed attentive but post surgery he was a jerk. The wait time to see him is always considerably long but once he came into the exam room he was cranky and dismissive. His PA was very attentive and got a verbal lashing from the dr for spending time on another serious problem I had. Dr Beck told me not to return for annual checks unless I was in pain. I have heard since then from more caring orthopedists that an annual check is standard. And to top off my frustration I now have pain in that knee while my other knee replacement is 22 years old, it has no pain at al. I am suspicious that Dr Beck’s technique needs updating! This is such a serious disappointment for me.
