Ross J Girvan, DPM

Fredericksburg Foot and Ankle Center provides advanced clinical & surgical care of the foot & ankle. Dr. Girvan is Board certified in forefoot & reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery by the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Girvan has a special interest in sports medicine & pediatric foot disorders. He treats a wide range of foot and ankle problems including fractures and other injuries, acute foot and ankle trauma, and surgical correction of foot disorders such as bunions, neuromas and hammertoes. Dr. Girvan also treats more common foot disorders such as athlete's foot, nail fungus, heel pain, achilles and peroneal (ankle) tendonitis, wart removal and ingrown nails.

The Fredericksburg Foot and Ankle Center uses the latest state of the art technology including ultrasound and digital x-rays. A digital scanner ensures accuracy and the highest quality custom orthotics. All medical charts are stored in a secure electronic medical record.

Dr. Girvan is trained and board certified in advanced surgical techniques including arthroscopy, endoscopic plantar fascia release and endoscopic gastrocnemius recession. Most surgical procedures can be done on an out-patient basis. Dr. Girvan performs more than 250 surgical procedures every year.

During and post graduation from the University of Toronto, Dr. Girvan competed as a nationally ranked pole vaulter on the Canadian National Track and Field Team which led to his special interest in sports medicine. Dr. Girvan is active in his community's local running club and is familiar with the many injuries and painful conditions that can develop in the casual and competitive athlete. Proper diagnosis and treatment can help resolve current problems and prevent future injuries. Dr. Girvan educates his patients about the importance of sports-specific, supportive footwear geared to a patient's individual foot type to improve comfort and prevent injuries. Dr. Girvan treats the foot and ankle problems of professional and amateur dancers to help them prevent injuries and maintain their foot and ankle health throughout their careers. Dr. Girvan provides a complete assessment of foot and ankle development to provide the medical clearance recommended for young ballerinas to advance to pointe.

Children can be born with or develop foot and ankle conditions and disorders that if diagnosed and treated promptly, can prevent discomfort and more complex problems later in life. In-toe and out-toe walking, club foot, tarsal coalition, flat feet and metatarsus adductus are a few of the childhood foot disorders that can be addressed at a young age, even as early as infancy. Ingrown nails should be treated promptly by a physician, especially if there is any sign of infection such as redness, swelling, or pus. Any infection can become serious very quickly if not treated promptly and effectively. Warts and athlete's foot are conditions that can be resolved more quickly and effectively if diagnosed and treated when symptoms first appear.

He must think it is ok to just show up whenever he wants to appointments since his average at visits I attended was to be 60-90 minutes late. If you are late he charges $50 but if he misses an appointment because he leaves an elderly woman waiting for so long past her appointment that she has to leave because she is too physically exhausted to keep sitting there he does nothing about it. An apology is too late after you have ruined her entire day by throwing her off schedule because you cannot figure out how to fix your scheduling problems. I don’t recommend going there unless you have lots of free time to waste and don’t mind listening to him talk about how his time is getting wasted one minute at a time after he just wasted 90 of yours
