I have to start off by saying that I have had some bad experiences with health care professionals lately. They are all rushed, condescending, and don't seem concerned with your care. I had an mri done with a lesion found and was scared to death. I went to a neruo. doc in Brandon and the guy came in, not even knowing why I was there, took my films, was gone for about 5 min, came back and said "your fine have a good day." needless to say I was not satisfied with that and his bed side manner. I saw the ratings for Dr. Albakri on sites like this and decided to give him a try. Oh my goodness, what an amazing doctor and staff. The moment I walked in I waited about 5 min to see him. The nurse took me in (and usually at this point she does all her stuff, then you don't see anyone for about 10 more min), well as she was doing her stuff he came in and got started. He wanted to hear about every symptom I had ever had and when and how it started. He went through every single one of my films, blood work results, primary care notes, EVERYTHING right there in front of me and nurse was in there the whole time. He explained everything he was reading and his diagnosis. After that he did some neurological tests and asked more questions. The MRIs turned out to be fine, but he did recommend I see an ENT b/c there was a cyst in my nasal cavity....he didn't try to diagnose that b/c he is not an ent guy and told me that straight up, which I really liked. He was very honest and ordered some additional blood work just to make sure. I was rushing at first b/c I thought I didn't have much time to say what I needed to say based on previous experiences, but I found that he was there to listen no matter how long it took. I am amazed with his level of compassion and all of the time he spent with me. I will def. use him as a neurologist from now on!
