I'm 20 years old and I've been visiting Dr. Harris for about 2 years now, I came to him because I got him from my insurance company and i was trying to get on birth control. He had mostly good reviews online. I scheduled an appointment over the phone and went in, his nurses were nice enough and they did all the normal procedures and took my blood pressure etc.. they asked me which option and I told them ¨the pill¨ well after that I met with Dr. Harris he did NOT examine me, and did not check to even see if I was pregnant (thank God I wasn't) before he wrote me a prescription and sent me away. They did not ask me if i had any questions about the birth control and all of my answers I had to get from the CVS pharmacists. Any who the birth control worked fine (im not pregnant) but that isn't the problem the problem is him. Every time I tried to ask him a question he would avoid it or simple not answer it, I asked him why I was not being examined before he gave me the birth control and he just said ¨because we dont have to until your 19¨ well when i turned 19 i came in for a refill of my birth control, he still did not examine me he just asked was i having any problems with the birth contol i said no and he said ¨I'll leave a note with the receptionist, you just call up here and we will get that filled.¨ after I got back to school i called it in and they refilled it for me for about 6 more months. Well just recently about 3 weeks ago I went back because those 6 months are almost up, I kid you not he came into the room after about an hour of keeping me waiting and said ¨so you stopped taking your birth control?¨ I said ¨what?¨ he repeated himself, I said ¨well why would i do that¨ he said ¨because you haven't been here in a year and a half¨ i said ¨ because you told me to just call up here since i wasn't having any problems with my birth control¨ he said ¨ I would never do that.¨ ¨I said well how else would i get the prescription¨ he said ¨I don't know but i wouldn't tell you that.¨ I said ¨well sir you left a note with the nurse in my file and CVS even called to confirm that I could get them.¨ He left the room and asked the nurse, like i had lied to him or something, i was infuriated and mad as hell that he would call me a liar i heard the conversation through the door and the nurse had confirmed what i said. he came back in the room and gave me the prescription, and said ¨next time you come back you will start getting examined¨, I was so mad i just paid and left. I got in my car and realized he had only written the prescription for 3 MONTHS!. I was insulted and through the whole conversation he did not let me speak or he cut me off. I would NEVER recommend him to ANYONE he is the worse doctor I've ever been to and has ruined my experience with male OBGYN's, if anyone reads this i recommend that you choose another doctor for your own sake.

I started seeing Dr. Harris for my 3rd pregnancy. I informed Dr. Harris that I was diabetic very early on in my prior 2 pregnancies. (12-16 weeks) At 12 weeks pregnant I was sure that I was again experiencing high blood sugar symptoms. I asked Dr. Harris if he could test me early for gestational diabetes. He said "not this early, I test at 28 weeks." My next visit with him was at 16 weeks and again I asked if he would test me for gestational diabetes because I knew I was experiencing symptoms of high blood sugar. He again told me "No, not until 28 weeks." I had to change doctors mid stream in my pregnancy to start seeing a doctor that would listen to me and give me some credit that this was not my fisrt rodeo. I had my first visit with my new doctor at 18 weeks and asked him for a blood sugar test. He immediately did a finger prick that showed 363 blood sugar level. I was admitted immediatly into Huntsville Hospital and stayed for 4 days to get my insulin and blood levels regulated. I believe Dr. Harris is probably a fine doctor as long as you do not present with any out of the ordinary pregnancy symptoms or requests. He refused to bend in his strict standard of pregnancy scheduled care. I hate to think what may have happened to me or my precious baby had I waited another 12 weeks to be tested for gestational diabetes. My decision to leave Dr. Harris care was the right one for me. I could never recommend him to anyone because of what I feel was substandard care.
