I had the misfortune to be the patient on the receiving end of the nurse's rude and obnoxious behavior. I had a 5o'clock appointment. I arrived there at 4.49 hoping to finish and get back to work. I was called in at 6.10 pm. I had to make several inquiries as to what time they will be ready for me. No one bothered to advise me if they had a delay for any reason. When I said as much to the nurse- that at least someone should have the courtesy to inform me if there was an expected delay, she immediately launched on a rude lecture to me that I was in a medical office and that she had an emergency with a 25 year old. As a matter of fact she lectured me like I was the idiot and she was totally superior to me. Her disdainful tone and her demeanor made me hesitant to have her conduct my echo stress test. I asked to speak with the doctor. I objected to her attitude and asked her if she is inviting a lawsuit against the doctor's office. Another employee who was in the office at the time cautioned her not to respond and promptly said to her "don't worry you have a witness". I am 54 years old. Not only did she discriminate against my age but she totally treated me like I was dirt in the doctor's office. It seems that being a patient with no witness is a hindrance when you go to the doctor's office because they have witnesses there to ensure they are covered. They had advised me not to take any of my high blood pressure medication before going for the stress test so I had to put up with her rudeness while my heart was pounding and my blood pressure was extremely high. I was extremely embarrassed by her attitude and her tone. As a matter of fact I left without getting my stress test done. I plan to call the insurance company. It is extremely sad that you put your life in the hands of the doctor and his nurse treats the patient like they were not worthy of the care meted out to them. The nurse acted as if she was doing me a favor to see me. I must admit that after I asked to spoke with the doctor, Dr. Jeffrey Burstein because of her attitude, he tried to get me to go to his office to talk over the matter. I refused because the situation was clearly biased. How secure is a patient's health and rights when going for a stress echo test when you have to put up with the nurses bad attitude prior to the stress echo test? For the record I am sending this review to the consumer protection department not just for me but for all the unfortunate people who are subjected to this sort of condescending attitude from nurses who should know better.
