Alvera Vayzer-Milberg, Ph.D.

Alvera Vayzer-Milberg was born in 1972, in a small town in Munkatch (Mukachevo), Hungary. As a young girl, she came to America in 1978, at the age of six. She attended Jewish day school and then spent a year in Israel studying Jewish Philosophy and History, with an emphasis on Talmud and Kabbalah of character. While in Israel, she taught Ethiopians in developmental towns. She then completed her B.A. in Psychology (with a minor in Judaic Studies) and also completed course work in Columbia and FIT in Art History and Image Consulting. She went on to complete her M.A. and her Doctorate in Clinical and School Psychology, both from Hofstra University. Her dissertation was on the Relationship of Religiosity to PTSD and Stress Resilience in Children of Holocaust Survivors and Escapees. Alvera was the only one accepted into the clinical program to receive the Joyce Bloom Merit Scholarship and maintained a 3.8 GPA. Alvera is a mother of four and speaks five different languages. She is very athletic, certified in yoga, CPR/AED and is a talented dancer; performing at various fundraisers. Alvera has 12 years of experience evaluating and treating various disorders. Her work history includes; hospitals, public schools, community centers, assisted living centers and various public/private agencies.
