My daughter has struggled with precocious puberty for a couple years. This office is really aggressive and treats all of the underlying conditions it could possibly be masking. I am good with this b/c I want to do everything to reach her maximum growth potential while also holding off on puberty for as long as possible for her psychologically and for what she can handle according to her level of maturity.

What has left me disappointed time and time again is this offices total disconnect to the emotional aspect of treating this disease and the unknown. Dr. Levy, albeit very intelligent, has no bedside manner whatsoever. This is concerning when you are talking about the chance of a brain tumor in front of an eight year old. He thinks his flippant attitude will be overlooked b/c he hands out a board game when you leave. Everytime we go to this office I feel dread for days b/c I know this will be four hours of nothing optimistic and trying to shield my daughters ears from the careless discussion out of the MD's, MA's and RN's mouth about her disorder. They talk about her puberty right in front of her while her face goes purple and she tries to find a place to look in the room to avoid any possible eye contact. Even writing this brings me to tears b/c I hate thinking about it.

Although I am sure Dr. Levy has done everything to medically manage my daughter, he has made this process much more excruciating than it needed to be for all of us. I'm all for tests to not leave a stone uncovered but this guy needs to wake up and realize he is treating kids and unfortunately has to put up with their parents who care very much about everything he thinks "may" be going on. He has thrown out a few diagnosis and then tells his nurse to call you and explain it and why you might need to start your kid on some other medication although it is not even indicated for the disorder he might be treating. THERE IS A TOTAL DISCONNECT IN COMMUNICATION. I am from Chicago and have decided to move on to a more optimistic environment that cares as much about my daughters emotional well being as her physiological well being.
