I felt rushed in my appointment on 01/27/2016. She didn't listen to me. I had tried to tell her that previously had electrolysis set through the Affordable Care Act for transgender persons to get through Medicare. But she was set on declining what I had set through the VA hospital with a Dr. Lauren Kole, and a Dr. Hill. She denied my request due to her rigidness. She referred to me as my male name, and used the pronoun "him" in referring to me with Dr. Carlton Phillips, and another male colleague. A regulation within the VA hospital that provides for transgender patients to be called by their preferred name for security reasons.

A nice bedside manner but seemed preoccupied and rushed. I did not have many questions so I did not ask many questions. She was helpful and even called me back later the next day when I wanted to change my prescription. This is a good physician but you have to be ready with questions concerning your condition. Dr Mercado is a pleasant physician and makes you feel at ease. I do not like the fact that I am paying her the same thing that I would pay another physician but all physicians affiliated with Kirklin always have a resident and are more interested in teaching their resident. Just an observation!
