About

Lisa Abernethy Christman, MD

Dr. Lisa Abernethy Christman, a Board Certified Dermatologist, has been practicing dermatology in the Triangle area since 1994. In August 2011, Dr. Abernethy Christman opened a dermatology specialty practice in the North Hills area of Raleigh. She welcomes adults and children to her practice.

Dr. Christman will continue to practice general medical dermatology including skin cancer detection examinations, the treatment of other common conditions including acne, rashes, warts, and removal of benign cosmetic lesions.

She continues to have a special interest in prevention, early detection, management, and patient education of malignant melanoma, atypical moles, nonmelanoma skin cancer, and precancerous actinic keratoses. She coordinates patient care with skilled and trusted local plastic surgeons and fellowship-trained MOHS surgeons for treatment of more difficult nonmelanoma skin cancers. For the treatment of invasive malignant melanoma, the doctor refers primarily to university affiliated surgical oncologists.

Dr. Lisa Abernethy Christmans cosmetic dermatological services will primarily be limited to removal of benign cosmetic lesions and providing advice on addressing photodamage. She will be referring patients with an interest in laser and other cosmetic procedures and products to a reputable local cosmetic practice where the physician personally performs most of the laser procedures.

Visited July 2015 for the first time with my 2 daughters ( ages 17 and 21).
Check in girl was very direct, did not smile at all. Check out girl seems to "just do her job", not warm and fuzzy. Dr Christman is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and very kind. Both my girls had different issues and she immediately identified their skin conditions. She even removed a suspicious dark spot from one of them. Her nurse assistant is very nice as well.

I just left Dr Christman's office very dissatisfied! I went to her as a new patient. I arrived at 9:40 for a 10:00 AM appt. I came with my paperwork already completed and my insurance card and photo ID in hand. 35 mins later I hadn't been seen so I asked the receptionist when I would be. She told me that I was next, which was obvious because the only other person waiting had arrived 1/2 hour after me. But she said she couldn't say when I would be seen and she didn't bother to check. I waited another 5-10 minutes and left without seeing the doctor. This is an abysmal way to run a business.
