I have Type I diabetes and have for 20 years. When I had to switch from my pediatric endocrinologist, I was referred to a different doctor in Tampa. He looked at my exceptionally good A1C's and had me come in only once per year (even though you should see an endocrinologist every 3 months with Type I). I ended up having a hypoglycemic epoisode that landed me with stroke-like symptoms and therefore decided I needed to find a new endocrinologist. I was referred to Dr. Leonard by my PCP and I have never regretted the switch. I am now pregnant and he is helping me monitor my sugars in order to maintain a healthy pregnancy by reviewing my numbers and insulin pump information weekly. Everytime that I come into the office I am welcomed with smiles and exceptional customer service. I recommend Dr. Leonard and his team to anyone needing an endocrinologist for their Type I diabetic needs.
