Why You Need to Breathe - More from Body Talk Volume 9 # 8

Why you need to breathe - more

It has been said that "breath is life", but what does that mean? Is it merely an affirmation of the blatantly obvious or is there a deeper meaning to those three simple words?
The BEST Vegetable Soup

If part of your traditional New Year's menu includes collards, but you'd rather avoid the traditional bacon fat laden, cooked past death version, give this recipe a try. No nose holding necessary ;-)

**Use organic or local ingredients if possible**

In a large soup pot place:

1 Tbsp. Olive oil
1 large onion - chopped
1 - 2 cloves garlic, minced or crushed
1 red, yellow or green bell pepper - chopped

Why most resolutions fail (and how to make yours stick)

Whether speaking to a group about nutrition, fitness, personal growth or some combination of the three, my talks are fundamentally about making a change. At some point in the presentation, I'll challenge my audience to make a decision - a resolution - to change. Positive change, yes; change that will improve health and well-being, yes; change that can bring about a whole new levels of success, yes; but, any change, even change for the better, is difficult for us humans.
Message in your body

It is widely accepted as fact that the rounded back condition known as Dowager's Hump is caused by osteoporosis. Conventional prevention and treatment options include a higher dairy consumption, calcium supplements, diagnostic bone scans and drugs like Fosamax and Boniva. But is this the end of the story?
What's the leading cause of mad cow disease?

Bullheadedness. Bullheadedness is the leading cause of mad cow disease! Oh.....

My sweetheart said that to me the other day when we were engaged in a discussion of "the best way to do something". I don't remember what something we were discussing and it's not important. We choose to find humor in our differences rather than conflict and it keeps life interesting and fun.
