Help and hope for sufferers of chronic back and neck pain

by gossettclinic
Do you or a loved one suffer from chronic back or neck pain?

Sometimes it can be difficult to determine where to go and who to trust. Modern medicine can be wonderful in the event of an acute problem, but it has much lower success rates in treating chronic conditions. Many times, once you have run through the less invasive procedures including drug therapy, injections, epidurals and physical therapy, patients with chronic neck or back pain conditions are faced with the prospect of surgery ... or are told that they must just live with the pain.

If you have one of these conditions and feel like you have run out of options, there is good news. Hope is out there and it comes in the form of non-surgical spinal decompression.

Spinal decompression is a relatively new medical breakthrough procedure that has been showing some incredible success rates in patients with "failed low back syndrome," that is, patients who have run the gamut of medical options but have not found relief. Spinal decompression works by putting negative pressure on the spine in a tightly controled stretch-relax cycle. This negative pressure draws displaced disc material back into place and also stimulates your body to produce Type IV collagen, which is actually stronger than the original disc material. So basically, it treats the cause of your back or neck pain and also strengthens the area so that you won't likely ever have a problem in the treated area again.

Spinal decompression is gaining popularity in the United States as a treatment option for people with severe and chronic back and neck pain, especially those who have failed to respond to conservative conventional medical treatment. This is unsurprising, as in Canada, which has a nationalized heath care system, because of the impressive patient outcomes achieved with spinal decompression, all candidates for spinal surgery are required to undergo decompression first (unless there is a contraindication). The reason for this is that they've discovered that when the cause of the back pain is treated in this way, it actually eliminates the need for long term drug therapies and surgery, thus saving the Canadian health care system hundreds of thousands of health care dollars weekly.

So if you suffer from chronic, long term or severe back pain which is caused by bulging or herniated discs, spinal degeneration, facet arthrosis, arthritis, sciaitica or stenosis, spinal decompression may be the alternative you are looking for in order to heal your problem and achieve long term relief.

Wishing you the best of health!
Sincerely,
Dr. T.K. Gossett, D.C.

Thank you for your post. I live in San Diego, Ca, and I haven't heard about spinal decompression from anyone out here. I have sciaitica issues, that actually began when I started an exercise training program. Both my sons engage in high impact sports and suffer resulting back pain. This sounds like something to ask of our chiropractors out here. Are there any counter indications to this therapy? Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. This type of forum discussion could greatly impact our lives. Janet

Dear Janet, I found your comment on a local google search and noticed that you are from San Diego. Our spine center has been providing non-surgical spinal decompression and high tech rehab successfully to San Diegans for almost 3 years. To answer the question you posted; there are some contraindications to spinal decommpression that include the following: recent fracture of the lumbar vertebrae, recent spinal fusion, cancer, severe osteoporosis, metallic lumbar surgical implants, unstable pars defect, abdominal aortic aneurysm. These are a few of the standard contraindications. Each patient is unique and candidates for our program are provided with an opportunity to qualify for care through a complimentary in office assessment. There is no obligation and you will not be pressured or sold anything. Patients are either qualified or not, depending upon their condition. If they are not good candidates for this treatment, they are given the next best options to choose. If you are interested in this free consultation/assessment, feel free to contact our offices at: 619-472-2225 and ask for your Free DRX Consultation. You can also check out our website at: www.SouthCoastSpine.com I hope this has been helpful to you.
